Blogmas Day 25 - Everything that momentum makes possible

Not to be dramatic, but writing this post signals a dramatic turn in my life. What those on in the world of trading would call an episodic pivot. To anyone quietly observing from outside, the last 25 days of blog posts may seem unimportant. “Big whoop! Someone posted to their blog every single day for 25 days. So what?” And that’s a fair assessment. The internet is a busy place filled with a lot of busy things. My little self-imposed writing challenge isn’t breaking any ceilings in the grand scheme of things. But personally? This is big.
Movement, in any direction, makes things happen. Even if it’s not the right direction, you have to start in order to find the right path. I didn't understand that concept. To me, if it wasn’t perfectly planned out from beginning to end, then it wasn’t worth doing. However, for the last 25 days, I went after this with no plan. I only had one rule: show up every single day. On the days I didn’t feel like I had anything of note to say. On the days I rather watch tv or scroll my phone. On the days I feel sick or heavy with grief. Just show up. By showing up I’ve triggered two very important mindset shifts.
- I am capable of keeping my word to myself.
- I have the endurance needed to finish the things I say I want to do.
I’ve never once completed a challenge. Started a bunch, but not a single one saw through to the end. What made this different from all the rest? Wouldn’t be able to tell you but I’m happy it took this time.
So, what’s next? Well I don’t actually know. I’ve got a list a mile long of things I could write about, but no idea what to write next. I’ll likely do the unthinkable and enjoy this win for once. Then, in the new year, I’ll return. Maybe with a new challenge. Definitely with a new blog look. But the point is, I’ll be back. I’m a writer which means, you know, I have to write.
