Blogmas Day 3 - Will it make the boat go faster?

As 2025 quickly comes to a close, one of the things I’ve been thinking about constantly, besides my goals for 2026, is how I'm spending my time. Like I mentioned in Monday’s post, I tend to sit on my hands and wait for new opportunities to find me instead of finding ways to create them for myself, which directly correlates with my anxiety around how much time goes by without me making strides towards my goals.

So for the rest of the year and all of 2026, I will be asking myself one question each time I embark on a new path, start researching a new system, or find myself at an impasse: "will it make the boat go faster?". The question is the focal of this video from Olympic gold medalist Ben Hunt-Davis about how he and his rowing team finally found victory after many years of failure.

It's really very inspirational! Give it a watch.

For my end of the year prep, I’m taking the time to experiment with new routines and audit habits that aren't moving me forward. For me that means adjusting my wake up time, working out at different times of the day, and experimenting with new meal prep recipes. It’s all in an effort to get me started on the best possible foot from January 1st.

A journal prompt for later: What’s one thing you can do every single day that makes your personal boat go faster?

Until tomorrow!
